More Albanians are taking Italian citizenship, no longer because of marriages with Italian citizens, but because of the long time they have lived in Italy.
36,920 Albanians have taken the loyalty oath to the nation of Italy only during 2016. This has reduced the number of Albanians with a residence permit, which is now 450,000.
The Albanian community in Italy that has a residence permit has increased every year until 2013, when I reached 502,546. From then it has dropped to 441,838.
During the same period, the number of Albanians becoming Italian citizens has also increased 4 fold, as compared to 2012.
