Elham Elezi is the RENEA Special Forces officer who died in 1998, during a hostage situation.
20 years later, relatives and police officers have donated 140 trees in his honor, which were planted at the Tirana Artificial Lake.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, thanked the relatives and his colleagues for honoring the patriot who gave his life for the country, and said that taking care of our city’s oxygen and trees is also a great gesture of patriotism.
Elezi’s father thanked the Police officers who contributed for preserving the memory of his son and that of everyone else who have given their lives for the citizens’ safety.
The Tirana Municipality has extended the tree-planting operation until April 22nd, on the Earth Day. The Mayor invited more citizens to be part of this initiative and help making Albania’s capital cleaner.
