Albania and the World Bank will find a 128 million EUR project for the
maintenance and traffic signs of roads all over the country.

The Albanian Road Authority will open a tender on September 16th, making it the first time that 1400 kilometers will be maintained by private operators.

The World Bank will be part of the project with 66 million EUR. The rest will be supplied by the government of Albania. Documents show that the maintenance is divided in four special areas, based on the geographical position.

The tender is international, but there will be merged Albanian and foreign companies. The agreements include rehabilitation of roads and road signs.

There will also be interventions for those parts of the road which are considered dangerous, due to the high number of accidents. The project lasts until 2021 and is expected to reduce the number of accidents with 15%.

The four geographical divisions:

A: Shkodra and Kukes
B: Dibra and Tirana
C: Fieri, Elbasan and Korça
D: Vlora and Gjirokastra
