121 Afghans evacuated from Kabul airport arrive in Albania

After several canceled flights since last week, today at 3 in the morning a plane of a Georgian airline brought to the military part of Rinas Airport in Tirana, the first contingent of Afghan citizens to be sheltered in our country.

121 Afghan citizens descended the stairs of the plane, while hosted by the Albanian Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka and the American ambassador Yuri Kim.

Ambassador Yuri Kim, who coordinated the arrival of these Afghan citizens, said via Twitter: “As they have always done, the people of Albania once again offered shelter and protection to people in great need. We are proud to call you friends and allies. Thank you”.

Prime Minister Rama published the images of the arrival of 121 Afghans in our country, saying “Welcome to the land where the law of the ancestors says that ‘the home of the Albanian belongs to God and to the guest’”.
