12 European Commission recommendations

The Albanian institutions must deliver within 10 days the final options
for reviewing the measures that will lead the action plan implementation
for the 12 EC recommendations for Albania.

These recommendations are important, because will determine if Albania will receive the EU candidate status or not, depending on the evaluation of their fulfillment.

By underlining the recent cooperation with the opposition, the Minister of Integration, Majlinda Bregu, noted that the recommendations are not 12, but 10, because 2 of them have been already accomplished (the local elections and the election of the Ombudsman), while the other recommendations are undergoing.

But is it possible for Albania to receive the candidate status in the next year?

“If everything will be realized during this spring, chances are that this could be more realizable than ever. I can’t say if it will be in the Council of June, of December, or in the next October report, because it is not me who decides the European Commission and European Council agenda”, Bregu declared.

“But it is important to fulfill our obligations. In a moment when Albania is showing that it is realizing its obligations, then this is a process that could easily arrive in the earliest date of the Commission”, the Minister of Integration underlined.

Albania is concretely implementing the recommendations for passing of the laws that require qualified majority, the electoral and Parliamentary reforms. But for the progress of all recommendations and the reviewed action plan, which will be approved in the Parliamentary Commission of Integration, Albania will report to Brussels in February.

If everything will go well and the majority-opposition cooperation will be stable, the EU candidate status before the 100th anniversary of independence would be a realist prediction.
