In the square filled with citizens who had come from all over the world, even though it was a rainy day, the flag raising ceremony took place today and the national anthem was sung to the sound of the Brass Band.
Alongside the mayor of Tirana were leaders of Albanian municipalities from ethnic Albanian groups in other countries, as well as leaders of various Albanian organizations around the world.
Today, November 28, the Union of Albanian Municipalities in the Region and the Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with the “Albanian Roots” Association, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture and the State Archives brought to Tirana for the first time the “Parade of Albanians”, under the name “The Roots Red and black.
The 111th anniversary of Independence is being celebrated with a parade that is organized for the first time in Tirana, which started in “Mother Teresa” square and ended in “Skënderbej” square, with the participation of more than 100 municipalities of the Albanian territories.
“Despite the rain, we are here in this united atmosphere, the rain is blessed, we are enjoying ourselves. We started the party last night, I sang until I had no voice”, said one of the participants.
After a 15-year tradition in New York, the Albanian parade is also being held in Tirana through a collaboration with the capital’s municipality and the “Albanian Roots” association.
