Police treats 11 domestic violence reports a day, in average, in a
national scale. There are more than 2100 draft-requests a year for state
protection. Compared to the same period of one year ago, the number of
reports has increased with 5%.
“It means that we would need 2100 officers to implement these court orders. This is impossible. Even if we could, the moment that the Court leaves the victim with the attacker, in the same residence, then we cannot know what could happen. Crimes could take place on the spouses bed”, said Silvana Alimadhi, Chief of the Domestic Violence Sector.
What are the main causes of violence?
“Insufficient financial means, difficult economic and social conditions. Individuals reflect their inabilities to realize plans into violence against unprotected persons inside the family”, says Valbona Treska, Chairwoman of the Association of Legal Psychologists.
The Deputy Minister of Interior, Elona Gjebrea, proposed that if a protection order gets stuck and delayed in some court, it means that there is a problem that can be fixed, maybe with a joint commission, or other ways that address the problem on time.
