Would you believe that an object similar to a vehicle remote key is in
fact a gun used for a murder in Albania? Would you believe that this
weapon which comes from the World War II has been found in an arsenal
that was seized a few days ago in Durres, and police are now examining
it to see if it has been used recently in any crime?
Every fingerprint that is found in a crime scene discovers the identity of a suspect. Besides the microscopic ballistic researches, tracking down clues among the fine letters or photographs with a forged signature is a real special skill.
For investigators, forgeries are divided two groups, civil and penal. Property documents top the list of the first one.
“If before we had forged passports or other identification documents, especially driving license, recently we have had 700 out of 1000 cases that are related with the property”, says the Criminal Investigation Lab Director, Ajdin Mborja.
As for the penal area, the most popular forgery is the pension fraud.
“The Prosecution has started an investigation in the last two years regarding the social security documentation. One aspect is the for the mine workers. Another one is the fact that people who have worked outside the mines falsify documents saying that they have worked underground. For pensions there are forgeries about the work experience”, Mborja declared.
“The method is the production of a false document, or there are interventions at the data, so that the person can reach the qualifying criteria”, declared Prosecutor Julian Zonja.
