10 tons of drugs were seized by Italian authorities in the last 12 months coming from Albania. “Guardia di Finanza” published the data in its annual report saying the massive amount arrived in the country by sea, mainly in the Apulia region and in the city of Bari.
The southern and the nearest Italian region with Albania remains the main point of drug trafficking. Italian authorities also reported the it has seen an increase in traffickers using the marine rout to transport drugs in Italy, based on the fact that drugs seized during the first three months of 2017 amount as the total of narcotics seized during all 2016.
