1 million USD fine for Albtelecom

The Ministry of Economy asked the Commission of Consumer Protection to
fine the Albtelecom Company with 1 million USD for dishonest practices
and lack of transparency in the billing details and internet prices.

The Ministry declared that they have received a great number of complaints and have sent the material to the Commission for Consumer Protection.

According to the Ministry, Albtelecom has repeatedly violated the laws of consumer protection which say that the bill must contain all the necessary price information.

The Ministry says that Albtelecom has also abused with the internet service by not including VAT in the final price.

On the other hand, Albtelecom says that they are unable to understand the declaration of the Ministry of Economy.

According to Albtelecom, the Company has invested more than 150 million EUR for modernizing the technology and this has been reflected in the increase of users and better prices for the clients.

The company also says that the company has carefully investigated the clients’ complaints and they have taken professional measures. For this reason, they say that it is impossible for them to understand the declaration of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy.
