1 million EUR on fireworks

The Socialist Party reported another abusive expense of the Ministry of
Integration that is related with the money used by the government for
the visa liberalization celebrations.

MP Eduard Shalsi declared that the Albanians deserved to celebrate this historical day, but the expenses are exaggerated in a time when Albania is suffering such an economic crisis.

“While the Albanians are suffering in an economic crisis, Sali Berisha talks about economic wonders and spends the public’s money without caring about the citizens’ needs. Only in two-three days, Berisha and his government have spent 920.000 USD. Do you remember those signs on Tirana’s traffic lights, showing the names of the European capitals? And also the fireworks and the big celebrations at the “Mother Teresa” square? For all of this, Berisha has spent 920.000 USD, as the document shows”, Shalsi declared.

MP Shalsi declared that Berisha and his government deserve two lessons for the way how they have spent the money: one from the people’s vote and one from justice.

“Certainly that we want to celebrate the visa liberalization, because all Albanians deserved it, but never with such numbers, in a time when Berisha says that he has no money for the compensation of the flood victims in Shkoder, and when he says that there is no money for the property owners. He cuts the funds for blind people, the tetraplegics and he spends millions on celebrations”, Shalsi declared.
