More than 1.5 ton of marijuana coming from Albania was seized in Italy at the Manfredonia port, in Southern Italy.
This is the result of the operation named “Atlantide” that started after a military airplane had observed a 15 meters long boat that wasn’t still anchored in the port.
Police declared that a large amount of drug was being expected for days now, so they were making very careful observations in the area.
The boat that had seemed suspicious even before entering the board was full of narcotic substances packed in 88 big sacks.
The sacks had some stamped logos that were there to show the destination. Police also found handguns and other heavier weapons, including a heavy machine gun.
The Italian Financial Guards arrested the three people that were in the boat, two Italians and one Albanian. They’re accused of international drug traffic and illegal arm possession. The investigations are undergoing for the way how drug was distributed in Italy.
