1.1 billion euros of foreign investments in Albania this year, of which 222m in apartament purchases

Foreign direct investments have increased by 10% in the first 9 months of the year, as according to the data of the Bank of Albania, 1.088 billion euros have entered the Albanian economy during this period.

For the first 9 months of the year, the Netherlands is at the top of the investment classification, due to the “Shell” company and the oil discovery project in the Shpiragu mountain.

Then comes Italy with 151 million euros, followed by Turkey in third place.

The other two countries are Austria and Kosovo, as the latter, in recent years, have significantly increased the investments they bring to Albania.

A record was also set in terms of the value invested in real estate by foreigners, a full 222 million euros in 9 months, tha statistisc say. The tourist season has experienced a strong growth, followed by the extractive industry sector, and then by financial and insurance activities.

In fourth place are projects in electricity, gas and water, while in fifth are investments in wholesale and retail trade. 50 million euros have also gone towards the information and communication sector. Despite the record growth of foreign investments in value, their weight in relation to GDP has decreased, tha authorities say.
