After the diplomatic “attacks” coming from Greece regarding the Albanian
law about minorities, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs,
Ditmir Bushati, reminded his counterpart Kotizas that Albania asked them
for a Greek model for comparison.

“During the past two years that we worked on this law, I have asked our neighbors to bring their experiences. We have been open to study any model about minorities that was brought to us, even the Greek one, if there is any”, Bushati declared.

The head of the Albanian diplomacy answered to the Greek President, who considered Albania’s move an “international amateurism”. Bushati said that “they should seek for amateurism in other countries, but not in Albania”, Bushati declared.

But does Bushati foresee a possible Greek veto?

“I have no reason to believe that a country, even our neighbor, Greece, would be interested to veto Albania. Because it is on Greece’s best interest to have Albania continue that way. It is not in the interest of Greece or Albania to have such developments. The politics of harsh words should be replaced by the one of hard work as regards the relations between our countries”, Bushati declared.
