Stabilization-Association committee: “Faster progress with Judiciary Reform and Vetting Law”

The eighth meeting of the Stabilization-Association Committee between Albania and the EU was held in Brussels.

The meeting was led by the Director for Western Balkan at the General Directorate for European neighboring policies, Genoveva Ruiz Calavera and Eralda Cani, representative of the Albanian government.

The committee focused on last year’s most impotrant developments in the rule of law, administration reform, trade, economic development, etc.

The European Commission welcomed progress in these areas and underlined the need to have results, especially with the judiciary reform and vetting process.

He also encouraged progress with all key priorities, including corruption, organized crime, cannabis cultivation, traffic, etc.

Beyond the five key priorities, the European Commission underlined that there are other matters as well that need to be treated, such as unjustified asylum applications in EU member countries.

The European Commission underlined that regional cooperation and good neighboring relations are an essential part of Albania’s progress towards European integration. Albania’s role as a strategic partner for the EU was also emphasized.
