Basha: “With SMI we’ll make opposition, not personal bargains”

Lulzim Basha met with the new parliamentary group and gave a clear
message against voices saying that he could be co-governing with Edi
Rama, after the May 18th agreement.

“The first and main message is that the Democratic Party is ready for a strong opposition, frontal and without compromise, against Edi Rama and his government. The main mission of the DP today is making opposition and bringing a new alternative”, Basha said.

The June 25th result did not give the Democratic Party the exclusivity of opposition. The Socialist Movement for Integration also declared to be in opposition, but Basha has a condition for what he calls “real opposition”.

“The Democratic Party welcomes anyone who wants to make true opposition, not for bargains. Doing opposition means doing it full time, not part time. Our invitation goes to anyone who is ready to make the opposition our country so much needs”, Basha declared.

Basha said that the agreement with Edi Rama was not respected for the election standard. However, it is still incomplete with the electoral reform and constitutional reforms, for which, for the first time, Basha included the territorial division as well.

“The battle for free and fair elections will be one of the main battles, together with the battle for a fair territorial division which answers to the citizens’ interests for important reforms, and not to policies made for robbing”, Basha said.
