Six  leaders of Western Balkan countries met in Brussels with the EU High Representative of Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini.

Mogherini met separately with each leader to discuss the current matters in the region, but they were altogether in an informal dinner.

What was commented by foreign analysts, especially by British journalist Tim Judah, was the outfit of Albanian PM Edi Rama.

Present in this meeting were also Zoran Zaev, newly mandated Prime Minister of Macedonia; and the outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa.

The harsh nationalistic rhetoric was the focus of Brussels’ message, according to Kosovo media. Mogherini expressed concern about the growing nationalist speeches mainly by high government leaders.

She reiterated that Balkan is a key region of Europe, and that’s why the EU perspective must only get stronger.

“I often say that we must not talk about these countries’ perspective to be part of Europe, because these countries are in Europe. We must talk about the perspective of their integration in the European Union, and this is our topic”, Mogherini said.

Rama has said on social networks that today he is going to meet with the US President Donald Trump, leaders of NATO members, Chancellor Merkel, king of Belgium and other personalities.
