14-year-old Albanian lured online for life-threatening Blue Whale challenge

A 14-year-old Albanian who lives in Kilkiz, Northern Greece, and one of
his peers in Katherine, are two victims of the “Blue Whale Challenge” in
Greece, while media say there are two other cases in Thessalonikki and
Crete.

The 14-year-old Albanian boy said for the media that an unknown person approached him on Facebook, proposing to become part of the “Blue Whale Challenge”.

The 14-year-old boy had been asked to film himself slapping his own face and send him the video. When he asked the person for more details, the mysterious person deleted the account. This is when his parents notified the Electronic Crime police.

The Blue Whale Challenge has claimed at least 100 deaths in Russia, Ukraine and some Central Asian countries. Experts warn that it is spreading in Western Europe as well.

Teenaers are convinced to be part of an online website, where they continue extreme challenges for 50 days, the success of which must be proven with pictures. It includes cutting their skin through rough objects, climbing dangerous bridges and buildings, and even pushed to suicide.
