Tirana Mayor met Mayor of Grand Rapids, introduced “Green Agenda”

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, met with his counterpart in Grand Rapids, USA, Rosalynn Bliss.

Their discussion focused on cooperation methods between both cities, to exchange successful experiences especially as regards the Green Agenda.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, updated his counterpart with the Orbital Forest initiative, through which the Municipality of Tirana will plant 2 million new trees around Albania’s capital until 2030, creating this way a green belt.

Veliaj also spoke about the improvement of public transportation and building of bicycle lanes, for which the municipality has a master-plan involving the entire city. Every new investment will have bicycle lanes planned.

Veliaj gave the Grand Rapids Mayor, Rosalyn Bliss, the “Tirana Clock Tower” souvenir, as sign of gratitude for welcoming the Albanian community in their city.

Mayor Veliaj, former student of the “Grand Valley State University”, was one of the three honorary speakers at this university, holding a speech during the graduation ceremony of 3000 students. This is not the first time that Grand Valley values him as a success model.
