During an interview for Top Channel’s “Top Story”, Prime Minister Edi
Rama appealed Albanians in Macedonia to not fall prey of provocations.

“Albanians in Macedonia should not fall prey of provocations. They should be an example of how we all want stability and democracy in Macedonia, not its end. This is a moment when we really need more calm”, Rama said.

Once again he rejected the claims of Gruevski’s party that the platform of Albanian parties was drafted with an intervention from Tirana.

“It is regrettable that they built a shortsighted political strategy by targeting Albanians and by using the so-called Tirana Platform. Truth is that VMRO and Gruevski had already accepted in a meeting with Ali Ahmeti everything that they called later the Tirana Platform. They know it very well why the agreement doesn’t work”, Rama said, adding that there are forces and countries that don’t want the best for our country.

However, Rama excluded that there could be another 1997.

“Albania will not go 20 years back, and there are no chances that forces outside Albania block our people from continuing the path we already started”, Rama added.

He also commented the comments of Vucic, after the interview he gave on Politico.

“Alexandar Vucic knows English very well. My interview was very clear and easily understandable, for anyone who’s not aiming to turn it into a fuel for firing divisions. I never said that I desire. I even specified that it would be unfortunate that due to the blocked EU processes, nationalistic forces would come up looking for other paths. I did exclude myself and the Socialist Party from this group, and also the current forces in the Albanian scene, as forces that are looking for another path”, the Prime Minister said.

Rama added said that the unification between Kosovo and Albania is unavoidable, but only towards the EU.
