Police: “We have always notified Prosecutors for destroying cannabis”

After the Prosecution accused the authorities of excluding them from the
process for destroying cannabis, Top Channel asked the police regarding
this matter.
The State Police said that Prosecutors don’t usually go to remote areas, when cannabis is seized. They simply order on the phone for the procedure to go on, and the police holds the respective pricedure in presence of experts and judiciary police, and also photograph the burning quantity.
According to the police, burning is applied only when the plants are caught during the drying process, but in other times, when it is packed and ready to be trafficked, they never destroy the quantities in place.
Bvsed on statistics, police has seized 28 tons of cannabis since January. Only 3 tons have been destroyed by burning. The rest has been sent to scientific labs or police directories, where they will be destroyed only by order of the Prosecution.
