The increased tensions in Western Balkan and Russia’s stronger influence
pushed the European Popular Parties to approve one of their strongest
resolutions regarding the European perspective of the region.

The EPP expresses its will through this resolution to help Western Balkan from third party interventions.

Article 19 of the resolution seems to be related to Albania. Although the name of our country is not mentioned, the problematic is similar to the Albanian actuality.

The EPP encourages all political forces to be part of the democratic process in every institution of their respective countries, and to focus on the structural reforms much needed by their economies.

“A full participation in the democratic and institutional processes” is a clear reference to the current conditions of Albania’s Parliament and elections.

The other paragraph reiterates the need that Western Balkan has to progress with the judiciary reform, so that the rule of law is better established, and for the judiciary system to become more transparent and independent.

The European Popular Party also says that the decriminalization process for political leaders should advance.

The delegation of the Albanian Democratic Party was not part of the voting process. Contacted by Top Channel, sources at the delegation said that the absence was related to bilateral meetings of the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha.
