President Bujar Nishani scheduled elections for the new Mayor of Kavaja to be held on May 7th, after Elvis Roshi was discharged when the decriminalization law came into power.

But Democratic Party head of Parliamentary group Edi Paloka said no elections will be held, local or nationwide, until Edi Rama resigns as Prime Minister. “We will allow elections to be organized with criminals and drug money. Every decision should be taken without Rama”, Paloka said.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Rama confirmed the date and commented on DP decision not to participate in the race. “I feel sorry for the Democratic Party, but its crises will not become the country’s crises! Elections will be held and justice will be done”, Rama wrote on his official Facebook Page.
