The support that the Albanian people give to the justice reform is
complete. A poll held by the Institute for Researches and Development
Alternatives, supported by the Foundation Open Society for Albania and
by the US Embassy in Albania, shows that 91% of the Albanian citizens
are in favor of the reform, and 67% of them fully support it.

The poll shows the more informed the people are about the reform, the more they support it. Data show that only one in five Albanians admit to be informed about the details of the propositions, and 95% of them say that the main source of information is the TV.

Those who are more informed want the reform to change institutions such as the Prosecution General, (72% ), while 66% want the High Council of Justice, and 65% the Supreme Court.

Figures show that the support for the justice reform goes beyond the political affiliations and people from both sides want to see it realized. But 9% don’t support it and say that the reform is not wanted by judges and Prosecutors.

While the community involved in the poll believes that foreigners are mostly interested for the reform, such as the US Embassy and the EU. Three in four answers were like this. Only half thinks that the reform is wanted even by Albanian political parties.

The poll shows that 65% of the Albanian citizens are very optimistic for the realization of the reform within this year, although 66% think that there will be groups wanting to stop it. Although optimistic, the Albanian citizens are careful when they answer about how will this reform be implemented.

52% think that the reform could be the result of political negotiations that might negatively influence its success. Or people who are part of the justice system but corrupted, and, as result, the system change would not guarantee an improvement.
