Dozens of forests, pastures and wild vegetation were destroyed by fires at Kolaj Mountain, Velipoja commune.
The flames spread rapidly, helped by high temperatures and the wind, involving a very large area.
Due to the difficult mountainous terrain, the intervention of the fire fighters is almost impossible.
Concerning remains the fact that under the mountain there are civil residences of Baks village, which would be seriously endangered if the flames would change direction by the strong wind.
The fire might have been set by residents for creating new pastures, then losing the control of the flames which have swept the entire side of the mountain.
