Two years in prison for singer’s death

Tirana Court found the businessman Azis Kelmendi guilty on manslaughter charges, sentencing him to two years in prison.

The decision was given by Judge Arben Micko. During a previous court session, Prosecutor Ervin Karanxha asked the court to take in consideration mitigating circumstances for the defendand. The Prosecution explained their stance about the event that took the life of the young singer Elsiana Hidershaj, known in the art world as Emy.

The Prosecution declared that Azis Kelmendi and Elsiana had a two year long relationship and her death was caused unintentionally. According to the prosecution, the girl grabbed the door of Azis Kelmendi’s car in the moment when he put the vehicle in motion, causing her to fall and hit her head on the ground. The wound created by this impact caused her death in hospital.
