Tirana school gyms now open after teaching hours, offer training courses for children

Children near the “Qemal Stafa” high-school in Tirana are now using its gym even after school hours after it was reconstructed by the Municipality. The initiative has been going on in several schools.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, joined the students of this school to underline that the gym can now be used by everyone, even after closing hours, and not as an abandoned place, but through a regulated system, with cleaners and caretakers.
Veliaj said that the opening of gyms aims to encourage children to do sport, as an excellent way to keep their body in shape, but also to get used to the competitive spirit.
The Mayor called children of this area as very lucky because their trainers will be former champions on a national scale.
“People in every country of the world would dream of a former champion to be their trainer. They’d stay in queues for this”, Veliaj said, appealing parents to encourage their children to stay away from cafes and cell phones, and register in the sportive courses that are now being offered at Tirana’s gyms.
