Thaci: “Special court, freedom price. Kosovo’s division, out of question”

Kosovo’s situation with the Special Court and the border demarcation with Montenegro seems to be on the right track as the country celebrates its 10th anniversary of independence.

In an exclusive interview for Top Channel, President Hashim Thaci said that the demarcation agreement makes way for the visa-free movement in the Schengen area.

Kosovo will be fully committed to fulfilling the other EU obligations, and Thaci has a direct request for Jean Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission:

“Kosovo’s integration process should be accelerated so that all Western Balkan countries get integrated at the same time”, Thaci said.

The President of Kosovo said that dividing Kosovo’s territory is out of the question, and this is admitted by Serbia as well, although not publicly.

“Serbia has admitted Kosovo in one way and another. I have met with Serbian leaders and they know that this is a sovereign country with an irreversible process, but no one has the courage to say it publicly. Serbia cannot join the EU without recognizing Kosovo, same as Kosovo will have to pay its obligations to their neighbours”, Thaci said.

Thaci, who voluntarily went to the Hague Court, said that the Special Court is an injustice for Kosovo. However, the Special Cort will not be repealed, because the EU and USA partnership prevails.

“We are aware that we are being imposed to pay a price for our freedom, and Kosovo is ready to pay it. Citizens in Kosovo are asking why no one was sentenced in Serbia for killing 13,000 Albanians? Why was no one sentenced for raping 20,000 women? What about the 400 massacres? Why no one in Belgrade was sentenced for removing by force 1 million citizens. And now there is a fake report, putting Albanians as if they have been attacking when we only defended ourselves. We conducted a war for our national existence”, Thaci said.
