During his speech at the 16th conference of parliamentary committees, the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Luiggi Soreca, declared that the countries of the Balkan region that want to join the EU have still homework to
“This week, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, declared that if the Zagreb Summit will be successful, the EU will carry out its obligation.
“The Enlargement Process will start based on the propositions of the Commission.
“However, the countries of the region have still a lot of work to do. We must work for our commitments, but the governments in these countries must work as well.
“As MPs, you have a vital role with your governments as regards the implementation of the reforms, especially in the fight against organized crime”, Soreca declared.
“The role of Parliaments cannot be underestimated. EU integration requires political determination. You are at the heart of this process and you play a vital role.
“EU integration is not a purpose on its own. As MPs, you have a vital role. Dialogue is vital for successful progress, but also for the EU integration process”, Soreca declared.
