The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, is attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Rama said that Western Balkans is now like a boat drifting in the middle of the sea, with the compass taken away from them.

“We are now like a boat drifting in the sea after the compass was taken away from us. It is very important for us to know about it for sure. If the European integration process had been based so far on unpredictability, what happened this October, making it a completely unpredictable situation. We no longer have the possibility to know what we should do to achieve what has been required by us, because it is now clear that the decisions a the European Council are no longer based on what we do or we don’t. it depends more on what they want it the EU to be”, Rama said.

Rama addressed another message to the countries that were against opening Albania’s EU accession negotiations: “Of course, our countries are not ready t join yet. But if the ‘meritocracy game; turns into the ‘blaming game’, every time that they lack the capacity to find consensus, this does nothing good either to the EU or to the process”, Rama said.
