The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, declared in a press release with the Macedonian counterpart, Zoran Zaev, that he appreciates his courage and determination for keeping the big promise of making Albanian the second official language.

“We expect the law to pass and to be implemented very soon. This will reinforce the foundations of Macedonia of the future”, Rama said, adding that they also spoke about the Ohrid agreement.

“We are encouraged by the vision, the courage and the strong will of Prime Minister Zaev to conclude this chapter by implementing this agreement, a foundation stone for reinforcing democracy and welfare not only in Macedonia, but also in Albania and anywhere where Albanians live”, bringing to an end the story of conflicts that turn into obstacles”, Rama said.

“Reinforcing national cooperation has been identified as a measure of special importance. We know that both countries have a wealth that belongs not only to them, but it is also considered a world heritage by the UNESCO. This is where we should focus investments from both sides of the border. We are optimistic as regards integration of the energy market between both countries of the region. We are interested to improve the standards for tourism and trade”, Rama said.
