The act of the Albanian President, who refused to decree or either return to the
Parliament the law for the construction of a new Parliamentary complex after the demolition of the “Pyramid”,
have created many dissatisfactions. With this decision, the Albanian
President has refused to give his approval to this law, but by not returning
it to the Parliament for a review, the law enters in act regardless the
Presidential silence.

Today, representatives from youth associations held a press conference in front of the Presidency. They expressed their disappointment for the President Bamir Topi, “the last of the Mohicans” – as some of  them call the current President, before the next one that will be chosen with 71 votes – for not returning the law to the Parliament, as a clear act of refusal.

These youth associations are joining the great number of civil society members and Tirana citizens who want to hold a local referendum, a festive gathering, the publishing of a book with many interviews that oppose the demolition of the Pyramid for the construction of a new parliamentary complex.

The youth associations declared that they will start gathering 50,000 signatures for holding a referendum for the nullification of a new Parliamentary complex, as provided by Article 150 of the Constitution.
