The Prosecutor General, Arta Marku, argued her decision to transfer the prosecutors who refused to accept the case of Emiliano Shullazi.

“It is my legal obligation to take the necessary measures for any prosecutor who refuses a case without any legal cause, especially in the most important prosecution of the country, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes”, Marku said.

After this decision, the opposition said that one of the prosecutors who was transferred had been working on the case of former Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, and that Marku’s decision aimed to weaken the case.

The Prosecutor General said that her decision has not affected anyone, since the team of four prosecutors is still working with the Tahiri case.

“My term is temporary, but organized crime and corruption have a permanent term and they work full time. This is why it is my legal obligation to take legal measures against any prosecutor who refused to exert his duty in finction of the Prosecution, refusing this way to keep fighting crime”, Marku said.
