After the Court suspended the case against opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, the Prosecution is challenging the ruling at the Court of Appeals.

Basha was accused of being involved in suspicious lobbying in the USA, through companies owned by Russian citizens, but the Court ruled that the Prosecution did not present enough evidence to support those claims.

The Prosecution of Tirana is asking the Court of Appeals to bring back the case against Basha and two other officials of the Democratic Party.

The case was suspended by Judge Lazer Sallaki, and the 41-page-long ruling stated that the Prosecution couldn’t prove that the defendants had committed the claimed acts.

The investigation, according to the Court, proved that the DP has not had any lobbying contract with the “Biniatta Trade” company.

For the Court, the agreement that Nick Muzin has with Biniata Trade cannot be traced to any political party.

“There is no agreement between Muzin and the Democratic Party. There is no evidence that Muzin has received 500,000 USD from the DP and 150,000 from Biniatta Trade”, the Court ruling states.
