Albanian President, Bamir Topi, asked political leaders to avoid
tension and return to civility, acting in accordance with Constitution
and law.

After a meeting that lasted more than one hour with ambassadors Arvizu, Sequi and Wollfarth, the Head of the State declared that law is an obligation and must be respected by everyone, without prejudice.

“People respect only the law. We appeal parties to give peace messages and avoid tension”, Topi declared, saying that the focus of the foreign diplomats in Albania has been the post-election situation and latest developments in Tirana.

“The postponement of EC President Barroso visit is not a good sign, because it tells that the European agenda is being postponed. We do not want to join Europe for a group of politicians, but for the Albanian people. I am convinced that this process will end without any problems”, Topi declared.

The Albanian President declared that the obligation for successfully ending the election process is not simply a partial obligation. It is a legal and moral obligation, in front of all Albanians that have expressed their will.
