01/07/2011 20:55

Prime Minister Sali Berisha participated in the inauguration ceremony
for the finalization of the process that rehabilitated the polluted area
of Porto Romano.

The project financed by the World Bank and the government of Netherlands enables not only the isolation of the entire polluted area, estimated as 14,000 square meters, but it will also help for planting new trees within its perimeter.

A factory that worked with chemical matters has dumped for many years great quantities of potentially toxic substances in the Porto Romano area.

“This is the fifth dangerous area that has been closed in the recent years in Albania”, said Prime Minister Berisha, emphasizing the commitment of the government for making all possible to guarantee a healthier environment in the country.

According to Prime Minister Berisha, the environmental issue will take a final answer when it will become an issue for every citizen.

Berisha invited every citizen and businessman to contribute for saving and improving the environment while doing their everyday activities.
