New State Department Director for Balkan meets Albanian Speaker and opposition leaders

The new Director for Central and Southeastern Europe at the US State Department, Dave Kostelancik, has arrived in Tiarna in the peak of a political crisis.

However, diplomatic sources said for Top Channel that although he is here in the peak of a diplomatic crisis, he didn’t come to intermediate.

Accompanied by the Charge D’Affairs of the US Embassy, Leyla Moses Ones, the US official met with the Speaker at the Albanian Parliament, where the crisis started.

Speaker Ruci appreciated the contribution of the USA in the judiciary reform, and underlined that this would have not been possible without their support.

David Kostelancik noted that Balkan has vital significance for the USA, the White House, the Department of State and Secretary Pompeo.

He also reiterated the support of the USA ofr the judiciary reform, focusing especially on the vetting of judges and prosecutors.

Speaker Ruci underlined that the ruling majority and he, himself, are committed to realize the electoral reform, and for this they will cooperate with both the parliamentary and non-parliamentary oppositions.
