Mogherini: Balkan will be reunited with the EU

“I expect to see Albania and Northern Macedonia have the EU accession negotiations opened this year”, said the EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini.
In her speech at the Plenary Session of the European Committee for Foreign Affairs, Mogherini appeared very optimistic.
“When you see the map, you can see that Balkan is in Europe. This is why I prefer the word ‘reunification’ rather than ‘enlargeemnt’”, Mogherini declared.
Her optimism comes in a time when the Dutch Parliament has asked the return of the visa regime with Albania, although this decision is up to the EU.
