The Justice Minister, Etilda Gjonaj, reacted after Judge Enkeleda Hoxha ruled to release Endrit Dokle, a former member of the Durres gang.

Dokle had been sentenced to life in prison, but the decision to let him go has forced the Justice Minister to hold a press release.

After noting that releasing prisoners with a life sentence is a huge alarm bell, the Minister announced that the Probation Director in Kruja has been fired.

As for the Judge’s decision, the MInister said that she had been informed beforehand that Dokle could be released.

“We filed a report against Judge Enkeleda Hoxha at the High Council of Justice, in January 2018.

“While releasing prisoners serving life sentences should raise alarm bells for everyone, the Judge’s decision is truly scandalous.

“Enkeleda Hoxha has also released Genc Tafili. I ordered her dismissal on January 15th and asked the Prosecution to start an investigation.

“Several administrative measures have been taken, starting with the Probation Director in Kruja, who has been dismissed.

“We hope that the Parliament will pass the new package against judges who act on personal interests knowing they are not going to pass the Vetting process”, the Minister declared.
