Preliminary unofficial results in Macedonia showed that both parties
that have led the government in the last three years have won again:
VMRO-DPMNE from the Macedonian political block and Democratic Union for
Integration from the Albanians,
According to non governmental organization MOST, which has followed the election process with 3500 observers, VMRO-DPMNE has won 53 parliament seats, Social Democratic League of Macedonia 43, BDI 14, PDSH 8 and RDK 2.
According to these calculations, Albanian parties have lost 5 parliament seats compared to 2008. Participation in these elections was 63%.
Opposition leaders greeted the winners, while supporters of both winning parties started the celebrations a few hours after the voting process was over.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the results in a press conference this Monday. OSCE-ODIHR is also expected to give a preliminary report about the elections held this Sunday.
