The Serbian politician, Oliver Ivanovic, who was killed today in Mitrovica, was the leader of the civilian initiative “Serbia, Democracy, Justice”. He had accused Belgrade of openly supporting the Serbian List party on the elections of October 22nd in Kosovo.

He even declared that it was time for Northern Mitrovica Serbs to fear Serbs more than Albanians.

“We are in a situation when Serbian people are trying to raise voices of fear and we are working to prevent this. This is not a normal electoral process”, Ivanovic had said for the daily “Danas”.

“It is regrettable that we have such relations with the Serbian institutions, which constantly support only one party. This is absolutely illegal, inhuman, and it can only produce extreme consequences”, he added.

The former candidate for Mayor of Northern Mitrovica believed that KFOR and EULEX should have to prevent possible incidents that could be carried out in support of the Serbian List.

“The public is creating an unfounded perception on the Serbian List, which focuses only on pressure and deception. This something that we haven’t seen before, and now Serbs are fearing other Serbs more than they feared Albanians in 1999, 2004 and 2008”, Ivanovic declared.
