Head of ODIHR meeting CEC

Head of OSCE-ODIHR mission met Central Election Commission’s directors that, according to him, have collected the data that will be used for the final report.

The meeting was held at CEC building for 40 minutes. Soon after the meeting, Stonestreet declared for Top-Channel:

“The meeting was about the recommendations we are going to design, which include improvements of the Electoral Process. As you know, two months after the Election Process, ODIHR will give the final report together with our recommendations. CEC point of view is very important in this process, because any specific process must not have only suggestions given by political parties for their legal framework. This is something that must involve all institutions that deal with election administrations, including civil society and all interested parties”.

Two days ago, head of ODIHR mission in Tirana declared for Top-Channel that he had demanded from CEC Chairman the decision used as legal base for counting miscast ballots. But such a decision was not delivered to him. We asked Mr. Stonestreed if he had demanded this decision again from CEC members.

“We did not discuss matters that are actually occurring together with the electoral process. The meeting was completely focused on the Albanian electoral process in general”, Stonestreet declared.

For Jonathan Stonestreet, the meeting with the CEC members seems to have been the last under the ODIHR mission in Tirana, since he will leave our country tomorrow.
