“Western Balkan must take advantage of the new momentum for EU integration”, said the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, during a joint conference with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini.
“Based on the speech of the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, in September we will introduce a new strategy for Balkan, related to the perspective of all countries of the region”, Hahn said.
Mogherini said that the EU doors are open for every Western Balkan country, after each of them fulfills the conditions and reforms.
“Juncker’s message was clear. The EU door remains open for Western Balkan, after the candidates fulfill the obligations. I have always trusted that the future of the EU will be with more than 27 countries”, Mogherini said.
The EU officials underlined the successes of the Serbian government for consolidating the budget and fulfilling several macroeconomic business conditions, and also praised their efforts to improve the relations with Kosovo.
