More than 100 Shen Pjeter villagers from Ishm and other areas protested
on the ruins of their former buildings, opposing the actions undertaken by
the National Urban Construction Inspectorate for razing down their businesses by the seaside.

Their presence in this protest was accompanied by several police forces. The residents warn that they will escalate their protest against the government’s decision for privatizing the coastline.

These land owners, different from the Inspectorate that says that these constructions are illegal, state that they have been compensated with coastline lands, some of which were given in the last few months, with a court decision.

Their concern grew in the recent days, when after seing some buildings along the coastline destroyed, the residents noted another area being surrounded as the land where a private complex will be built. But the residents say that the complex will be built on their land.

This protest took place this Monday afternoon. When the journalists and cameramen left, the number of police forces was multiplated and dozens of protesters were taken under custody. Contacted through telephone, the residents say that they have been taken by the police with force.
