Gjata: Legal deadlines, a priority

Former Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Çlirim Gjata,
declared that the deadlines are a key element in the management of the
election process.

Speaking on Top-Channel’s program “Shqip”, Gjata explained the steps to be followed.

“The deadlines are essential. This time starts right after the vote count summaries have been submitted. How can this be done? The process starts from the moment when the last Zonal Election Commissions has handed over the last materials”, Gjata declared.

However, Gjata underlined that CEC delay in some occasions is necessary for ensuring a fair result.

“Within 48 hours, but it is CEC who decides it. The law is 48 hours. But wouldn’t it be better if we would have a more accurate result, although late by CEC”, Gjata declared.
