FRONTEX, agreement to patrol Albania’s border with EU cooperation

Albania sill soon start a wide cooperation operation with Frontex, which aims to increase the capacities of the Albanian police for a better management of the Green Border.

The Minister of Interior, Sander Lleshaj, made this declaration before the implementation of the agreement with Frontex, for having a joint management of the border between Albania and the EU.

Lleshaj said that one of the reasons why this large project is starting with FRONTEX, is because Albania doesn’t have the capacities to face the increased number of illegal immigrants who use our country as a route towards the EU. The added number of EU officers, who will patrol with Albanians, will make sure that the border is under full control.
