Four Serbs sentenced for fire at US Embassy after Kosovo declared independence

A court in Serbia has given probation sentences to four persons. Three other suspects were acquitted.

They were all charged with arson, for putting on fire the US Embassy in Belgrade, a few days after Kosovo declared its independence.

Three of the suspects were sentenced to six months in probation, one of them with five.

One person died when the US Embassy and other western diplomatic services were attacked by protesters after Kosovo declared independence on February 17th, 2008.
