Former CEC leader, Meta’s removal from office, not appropriate

The former Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirian Celibashi, said that President Meta has violated the Constitution by repealing the decree that had set June 30th as the Election Day, but this violation is not enough to remove him from his post.

“The President has gone beyond his competences, but this is not the case to take such a decision”, Celibashi said, adding that the Administrative Court and Constitutional Court would both consider Meta’s act as a violation, but not a severe one.

When asked if the majority is using the President’s decision for political reasons, Celibashi said that for the sake of finding a solution, the government should have avoided this situation.
