Fatos Baxhaku, one of Albania’s best-known journalists of the post-communist period has passed away

One of Albania’s best-known journalists of the post-communist period, Fatos Baxhaku, has passed away. The news was made public by his friends and relatives.

Baxhaku’s heart stopped beating this Friday afternoon, losing his battle with a serious disease that he had been fighting for some time now.

Fatos Baxhaku was a brilliant writer who realized many documentaries, including critics which marked the transition period of Albania.

Born in Tirana, on January 9th, 1964, he graduated from the University of Tirana, for History and Philology at the Tirana University, in 1986.

He worked until 1992 at the Institute of History and Science Academy, and in 1993 co-founded the “Gazeta Shqiptare”, for which he worked as Chief Editor and journalist.

From 1998 to 1999 he was the first Chief Editor of the News Department of TV Klan. From 1999 to 2000, Chief Editor of the weekly newspaper “XXL”.

From 2001 to 2005 he was the Chief Editor of the News Department of Vision Plus, then from 2006 to 2016, he was Chief Editor and journalist of the daily newspaper “Shqip”.
