The European Commission is aware that the Dutch Parliament voted to suspend the visa-free travel for Albanians, but no request has been submitted so far.
The EU coordinating spokesperson said for the media that there is a specific procedure about the mechanism that suspends the visa-free travel. “So far we haven’t received any notification from any country”, she said.
The Dutch Forign Minister, Stef Block, confirmed that he had no intention to try and convince Brussels to bring back the visa regime for the Albanian citizens. The argument of the MPs who requested the visa back for Albanians was that it had caused an increase in the number of crimes committed by Albanian people.
